AFFILIATED CHAPTER OF THE MVPA INTERNATIONAL

"History on Wheels"

Veterans Day 2002
By Gary Park

November, 2002

Red River Valley chapter of the MVPA observed Veterans Day Nov. 11th. 2002 with a trip to Durant Okla. This was our first time to participate and was differently worth the trip. We had six- (6) members to go with five- (5) vehicles. Gary and Donna Park, MB Willys, Ron Hawkins, M38A1 Willys, Jerry Park, M37B1 Dodge, Charlie Brown, M725 Kaiser and Gary Thomas, M37 Dodge. All went great including the weather. We only had one “hitch” in that, we somehow missed Charlie and Gary Thomas at the rendezvous point on the highway outside of Denison. All worked out and we linked-up at the staging area in Downtown Durant. With our papers in order, the parade kicked off at 1000 hrs. and was full of floats, farm tractors, classic cars and walking participants and of course MV’s. The winning entry and a cash prize was our Club which was only fitting considering the day and the theme.
